Posting these cat-cartoons-without-the-cartoon was a long journey that I don’t know if I’ll repeat soon again. A daily blog is tough … even when you have your material handed to you! But, I couldn’t have done it without the artwork … Continue reading →

Father Time is riding out his last few minutes of being the temporal keeper for 2011; he sits in an easy chair with a calendar showing “Dec 31” behind him and a grandfather clock pointing to the time of 11:53. … Continue reading →

A happy young lady shares a table at a tony restaurant with her cat; they both wear festive, cone-shaped party hats. The woman gaily says to the tuxedoed server, “One martini and one glass of milk.” The cat does not … Continue reading →

The future’s so iridescently bright …

Posted by joeabbott on December 5, 2015

Today’s the day … today I start a month of vacation.

I get a bunch of vacation time each year and, that time I don’t use, I’ll lose. I can “bank” (or carry-over) some for a rainy day, but I’ve banked as much as I can and, if I have any remaining on the books after this New Year, I’ll lose it. And losing vacation time is akin to failing an IQ test, so I won’t be doing that.

So, from now until 1/4/2016, I’ll be home doing home stuff. I have a get-together with an old friend to watch the Vikings-Seahawks game this Sunday, some time set aside to visit a nephew and do some woodworking projects, and there’s plenty on the honey-do list, including my own agenda. But, for the next four weeks, I’m only doing what I want to do: movies with Suzy, video games, woodworking projects … and taking care of the backlog of blogging that I’ve been missing out on.

Stay tuned! More is coming … but as a teaser for a future project and topic for this section, I present:

While it’s just a picture of our backyard, it’s a picture from a motion-cam that we setup and have pointing at our chicken coop. Nothing fancy here … default settings, pointed at the window, and not zoomed in; but it’s just out of the box and ready for us to play with it. Best of all, we can keep an eye on our chickens anywhere we have Internet!

SmileIt’s just a toy but something I can tinker with over my holiday. You’ll be hearing from me a lot over the next month … see ya!
