Posting these cat-cartoons-without-the-cartoon was a long journey that I don’t know if I’ll repeat soon again. A daily blog is tough … even when you have your material handed to you! But, I couldn’t have done it without the artwork … Continue reading →

Father Time is riding out his last few minutes of being the temporal keeper for 2011; he sits in an easy chair with a calendar showing “Dec 31” behind him and a grandfather clock pointing to the time of 11:53. … Continue reading →

For Spencer: Farewell, wonderful companion to Joe and Suzy, as you join all other Immortal Beings. Wait for all of us there.

For Joe and Suzy: We will care for ourselves in honor of our own lives, and all who have shared that life with us.

Although I only met Spencer on a couple of occasions, he has left indelible memories. My first thought on seeing him was, “Holy cow! That is the biggest cat I’ve ever seen!” I was a little intimidated by such a large cat, but I quickly came to realize he was the sweetest and gentlest giant. That beautiful marled coat! Our pets enrich our lives, and we hope that theirs are likewise enhanced. In Spencer’s case, I know he received the tenderest and most loving care from you, Joe and Suzy, and I also do know how much happiness and love he brought to you both. You’ve all been in my thoughts throughout this entire past week, and will continue to be so.

You are in our thoughts and prayers this week, as always.

No, I don’t think it ever gets easier to lose a pet, at least it hasn’t for me. (we’re at 5 pets in the past 7 years–Tange, the latest to go, was far from easier to say goodbye to). However, I wouldn’t trade the time with them for anything and I’m sure we will adopt more little waifs in the coming years that will eventually require sad and sometimes heart wrenching goodbyes.

Keep Spencer’s memory close to your heart. May your memories help you through this difficult time. Love you both. Laurel
