Posting these cat-cartoons-without-the-cartoon was a long journey that I don’t know if I’ll repeat soon again. A daily blog is tough … even when you have your material handed to you! But, I couldn’t have done it without the artwork … Continue reading →

Father Time is riding out his last few minutes of being the temporal keeper for 2011; he sits in an easy chair with a calendar showing “Dec 31” behind him and a grandfather clock pointing to the time of 11:53. … Continue reading →

Been a while

Posted by joeabbott on February 23, 2010

I’ve been busy and actually finished building the chicken coop. I took off Monday and finally got the roof up and the wire blocking out the top. I have a bunch of fit-and-finish items left but, for the most part, I’m done!

Will post again when I have the time … right now my computer at home is buried under a debris of shelf detritus. I have two shelves over my computer and one of them started pulling out of the wall. Both are coming down until I can replace the attachment bracketry. Joys of home owning!

Thanks for sharing what you’ve accomplished! Read what you’ve posted so far, and it’s cool to get your insight. We were actually looking at Noonan’s Playhouse Coop recently, and I like the mods you’ve made to your design. I don’t exactly have the tools or resources at the moment, but hopefully with some help (borrowing tools), I’ll be able to build a variation of your coop in the next week or so… The whole deal about not having all of the necessary tools might be the hang-up, though.

    Thanks again!

Hey, Brad … thanks for the comments and, to be honest, I’ve been really negligent in keeping this up. As I was finishing a few things up this weekend, I was mentally preparing a few more entries so I appreciate you comments. Both motivational and will give me a little more direction. Specifically, now that I’m done, I’d like to summarize the project, detail the tools you’d need to “follow in my footsteps”, and then have an “exploded view” where I could number and detail each part. Ambitious, but doable.

That said, I did start the project hoping to just use my circular saw and a few hand tools. Before this one was done, I had my entire woodshop arsenal out there! 🙂
Not my intent but when you’re frustrated and having a hard time nailing the hardware fabric to the coop walls, pulling out the pneumatic stapler and letting the metal fly sure makes for a faster time of it!
