About
Hi, I’m Joe Abbott.
I was born and raised in Minnesota and really love it. The people and the environment. Yup, the winters are cold and dry, the summers hot and full of mosquitoes. Now quit whining and get out there! ![]()
That said, I’ve escaped to the milder, virtually bug-free environs of Seattle. And I love it here, too. I do a bit of mountaineering, some stuff around the house (with woodworking if I can), and enjoy time with my wife and cats.
This blog is about me. Welcome.

Hi Joe,
I’m the assistant editor at British Columbia Magazine and am writing a short piece about Mount Robson as a mountaineering destination. A ranger there told me that a Joe Abbott has made multiple attempts at the summit–have I found the right guy? If so, I’d love to set up an interview with you, so I can ask you about your experiences and impressions of the mountain. I can be reached at 1-250-356-5873 or by email at sbakerATbcmag.ca. I’m on a tight deadline for the piece, so am hoping to connect with you tomorrow (Thursday, Feb 24), if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Shanna Baker

Hey, Jennifer … your tip on the RSS Widget appears to be the ticket. Again, a bit shamefaced that I didn’t think to use it! Thanks!
And, yes, after rolling hills and 10,000+ lakes, the sport I found out here was climbing big piles of rocks! Good times!
